Directors Lio Skliar and Sebastián Sigal came to Lucila with a song already recorded — Cara de Rana — and a clear intention: kids' content that moves at a different speed, rooted in craft rather than algorithms. Her job was to build the entire visual universe around it: the character, the world, the palette, the frame-by-frame illustration for the animated video.
The starting point was the song itself and Cabo Polonio, the Uruguayan coastal town that inspired its mood — the directors' own photos and references, the calm they wanted the character to carry. Lio had sketched an early idea for the character and storyboard; from there Lucila developed the visual language properly, testing palettes and moving the backgrounds from something abstract toward a more figurative, character-driven world that could hold attention for kids and adults alike. Once the direction was set, she illustrated every frame and worked alongside the animation process through to the final cut.
Cara de Rana is the first release of an independent channel built around slow, intentional music for children — a deliberate alternative to fast, algorithm-driven kids' content.
Over 100,000 views on YouTube within the first three months, with no paid promotion behind it — a strong signal for a fully independent project with no commercial mandate.
